Grid-Tied Solar is the chance to save money on utility bills and achieve some level of energy independence. In many cases your utility company will track all the excess energy with your smart meter so that you can “bank” it for future use.
This is often referred to as NET METERING. Net metering is a solar interconnection policy that controls how your solar system is connected to the utilities grid, and how you are credited for the solar energy you produce. In some cases net metering policy is that the utility stores your electricity credits at a 1:1 rate so you get full retail value of your solar electricity. You can think of net metering like an energy bank that allows you to save your extra solar energy to use later during those rainy days and dark nights.
